The average person checks their phone 200 time a day. If you’re a blogger it’s probably a lot more than that.
So do you think you could go a whole weekend without looking at your phone? Could you switch off that part of you that spends all day half listening for a buzz signalling a notification?
That’s what the Innocent Unplugged Festival is all about. Getting away from technology, particularly your phones, and giving yourself a digital detox for the weekend.
Where is Innocent Unplugged?
The Innocent Unplugged Festival is held in a different, secret location every year. You’ll only find out exactly where it is a couple of weeks before the event. Which, if you ask me, adds to the excitement of the whole thing.
For 2016, Innocent Unplugged was held down in Kent in a forest clearing in the Pinetum and Arboretum.
Never have I been to a festival that was in such a pretty setting.
How big is Innocent Unplugged?
Innocent Unplugged festival is very small but that’s what makes it great.
There’s just one main stage and a couple of tents with speakers, poets, storytellers, musicians and much more.
There are yoga classes, a woodfired spa, foraging tours and a hog roast feast.
This isn’t the type of festival where you’ll spend about an hour walking from your tent to the arena. You can do that in about 10 minutes. It is the sort of festival you’ll fall in love with though.
Can you camp?
I’d highly recommend camping at Innocent Unplugged. There’s plenty of space so you won’t find yourself sleeping on top of others and there’s a lovely relaxed vibe in the camping area.
People go to Innocent to relax, escape the city and unplug from technology for a couple of days so you won’t spend your whole time stepping over passed out drunks in the path or be fearing someone will mistake your tent for there’s.
You could book one of the super stylish glamping tents or, take your own.
I recommend the Vango Mistral. It’s lightweight so won’t weigh you down on the tube and trains as you hurtle out of London, durable so can withstand festivals and bright orange making it easy to spot amongst the other tents!
How much is Innocent Unplugged Festival?
Given that you get some great speakers (including Alastair Humphreys, Jay Rayner) and a whole host of entrepreneurs, music from great acoustic bands and Mr Motivator, free yoga and the rest, you might think that Innocent Unplugged comes with a big price tag.
You’d be wrong as you get all this (plus free Innocent smoothies and juices) for just £15! Yes, £15 including your camping pitch! All the money from the ticket price is then given to charity – so you can have fun and know you’re doing some good too!
So what are you waiting for? Keep an eye out for next year’s festival and get your tickets quick!
