Hunstanton Christmas Day Swim

This year Christmas Morning was chilly. I lost any sanity I possessed and decided to join around 150 other crazy people in running into the sea. Yes, the British sea, at a warm 5 degrees. It's part of an annual event in Hunstanton and it seemed very popular; apparently there were a few thousand people watching us crazy folk too! All swimmers raise money for charity and don some fancy dress. The winners were a ...

Recipe | Plum Frangipane

What with it being plum season there's plenty of the tasty fruits around. I noticed some sitting in our fridge that were, unfortunately, a little bit past it. I hate throwing food away so instead decided to turn them into a tasty dessert. This plum frangipane recipe is surprisingly easy, tasty and made even better with lashings of double cream. Healthy? Maybe not. But tasty nonetheless. You can cheat and buy pre-made shortcrust pastry but ...

Best Sunsets In The World

Everyone loves a good sunset picture. There's something undeniably special about that time of day with the light it creates. If asked I'd probably say I prefer sunrise just because fewer people get to see it and I think the start of a new day full of promise seems more appealing. However, since I'm not often up quite that early (especially since I stopped rowing!), here's some sunset photos I've accumulated over the course of ...

Make the most of your holiday: Learn a language

The UK is notoriously bad at learning foreign languages. We expect everyone to be able to speak our language and if they don’t then we resort to just speaking slower and louder. We basically sound like really, really bad impressionists. There’s numerous reports detailing how children in the UK are the ‘worst in Europe’ when it comes to learning foreign languages. In Luxembourg, for example, pupils learn two to three foreign languages from a very ...

Demolition Derby In Kings Lynn

Last weekend we decided to check out Stock Car racing and a Demolition Derby. Verdict? Someone didn't tell us the spectators uniform was a high-vis jacket (everyone seemed to be wearing the), and I definitely should have put a couple of extra pairs of socks on as it was freezing! But the event itself was great!& The cars sped round the track slipping and sliding into each other and the walls, stand too close and ...

Travel in 2014

Over the Christmas period we did something exciting. We booked tickets to South America. For 3 whole months. Our route is going to go a little something like this (although it's not set in stone). It's always been my plan to travel after university, although I never thought I'd be doing it with a boy! We're both incredibly excited, especially as there's some big sport event going on in Brazil while we're there...  If any ...

Travel in 2014: Argentina Bucket List

source: unknown found via Pinterest After visiting Iguazu Falls from the Brazilian side we're working our way down Argentina to Buenos Aires. I've realised I know very, very little about Argentina. In fact my knowledge kind of starts with 'Buenos Aires' and stops with 'tango'. I'm clearly going to have to learn more about this country before we get there! // Eat a good steak. If there's one thing I've learnt Argentina seems to be ...

Happy Birthday to Me!

It's my birthday! and I'm celebrating in some luxurious surroundings in Meantwrog, Snowdonia. We're staying in the Tyddyn du Farm, Wales. It's the cutest little cottage you ever did see with a fireplace, a jacuzzi bath, the softest bedsheets and a welcoming bottle of proseco. I'm not normally one to get excited about my own birthday, but this one has been pretty exciting so far!
