Although we woke up on Sunday morning without a hangover, it was clear that the rest of Amsterdam was suffering after the madness that ensued the day before. Even the weather, which had been glorious the day before, seemed to be feeling it, demonstrated by grey skies and drizzle. The only people about were street cleaners (who really had their work cut out), tour groups and us.
On recommendation from the friend we stayed with, we headed just down the road to Cafe de Prins for breakfast. In the run up to our trip to Amsterdam I’d read numerous blog posts and tweets about the lack of good food to be found in Holland. Whilst our breakfast may have not been gourmet or Michelin Star worthy, there was bacon inside the pancake, and when bacon and pancakes get together you know it’s going to be good. It didn’t disappoint.
A lazy breakfast was followed by walking the streets of Amsterdam and popping into various museums. The weather seemed to have recovered from it’s hangover and gave us blue skies and sunshine just in time for a walk around Amsterdam’s Vondelpark before heading back home.
