8 of the best accommodation on Galiano Island BC
Galiano Island is a long thing island that makes up one of the Southern Gulf Islands of British Columbia.
The island is known for its stunning natural beauty, beautiful wild coastline, and great restaurants on Galiano Island too.
It’s not very heavily populated and it can be hard to find accommodation on Galiano Island. During my trips to this beautiful island, I’ve been lucky enough to stay at a couple of different Galiano Island accommodations.
Below, I’ve picked out my favorite places to stay on Galiano Island BC. The list includes Galiano Island vacation rentals, hotels on Galiano Island, and cottages and cabins on Galiano Island.
If you want to go camping on Galiano Island I’ve also written about that.
Let’s get into this list of the best Galiano Island accommodations!
The best Galiano accommodation
1. Waterfront Escape on Galiano Island BC
This stunning home with panoramic ocean views has an outdoor shower, and the main room is full of greenery and is lovely and bright.
You have access to swimming right in front of this Galiano Island lodging.
It’s on a 2-acre lot with plenty of hiking nearby.
I could imagine spending several hours on that sofa getting distracted from my book by the view. Or walking down to the waterfront with a coffee in hand for a morning swim.

2. Dragonfly Cottage
Dragonfly Cottage is a short 10-minute walk from the ferry so it’s the perfect accommodation on Galiano Island if you’re travelling to Galiano without a car.
This cabin is nestled amongst a woodland garden and has an open-plan kitchen and an enclosed deck.
One of the bedrooms has a skylight to stargaze at night and there’s a wood-burning stove which I imagine you’d get a lot of use out of if staying in Galiano in winter.
You’ll also have access to a private dock for swimming from these Galiano cottages.
3. Driftwood Village Resort on Galiano
Driftwood Village Resort features comfy and cozy cottages with wood-burning fireplaces. Some even have ocean views where you might even be able to catch a glimpse of a whale as it passes by the island if you’re lucky!
You’re super close to the community of Sturdies Bay here meaning this Galiano Island resort is in a great location.
You’re also surrounded by hiking trails so you can explore the beautiful scenery of Galiano.
If you like resort style accommodation this is the best of the Galiano resorts.
4. Sticks and Stones Cottage on Galiano Island
This Galiano Island cottage is super cute and has a patio as well as pretty garden views.
You’ll have the whole 1-bedroom home to yourself and there’s a wood-burning fireplace should it be cold during your visit to Galiano Island in winter.

7. Galiano Oceanfront Inn & Spa
WHen it comes to where to stay on Galiano Island, this is one of the more luxurious options.
This is one of the best Galiano Island hotels and it also includes a spa and ocean views – it doesn’t get much better than that!
This Galiano hotel is just a 5-minute walk from the Galiano Island ferries and includes a rental of bikes, and kayaks and there’s a yoga room too.
Rooms have spa baths and ocean views and some offer pet-friendly accommodation on Galiano Island.
Guests have access to the hotel’s relaxing and cosy lounge area and be sure to check out the restaurant at the Galiano Oceanfront Inn & Spa which serves some great food.
They also do a prime rib Sunday special!

8. Bodaga Ridge and Bodega Cove on Galiano Island
One of the best Galiano vacation rentals I’ve stayed at is the cabins at Bodega Ridge.
Bodega Ridge and Bodega Cove are two cabin-style accommodation options on Galiano Island. They have a similar vibe to Ocean Village in Tofino or the cool factor of the Salty Pear on Salt Spring Island.
They feature log cabins of various sizes all with their own kitchens and living areas. Most also have log-fire places and all have great views.
We stayed at Bodega Ridge when my parents came to visit us while we were living in Vancouver and we all had a great peaceful and relaxing weekend.
Bodega Cove is a little closer to the road but does have the benefit of being super close to the ocean. The two resorts are a short walk away from each other.
Situated towards the northern end of Galiano Island, it’s best if you have a car to get here since they’re quite far from the ferry terminal and other places on Galiano.
However, as of 2023, Bodega Ridge and Bodega Cove are home to two of the best Galiano Island restaurants. So, if you’ve stocked up on a few essentials and want to eat out you actually don’t have to go far!

How to get to Galiano Island from Vancouver
Almost the only way to get here is to take the ferry to Galiano Island.
If the ferries are running fully, it’s less than an hour between mainland Vancouver to Galiano Island. You can take the Galiano Island ferry from Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal straight to Sturdies Bay (view the Galiano Island ferry schedule), Galiano Island.
This ferry is popular and gets booked up fast on weekends. I would strongly recommend you book in advance as the alternative is a much, much longer trip!
